Your questions, Vanessa's answers

Everything asked live during our OndaPro virtual event, answered by Vanessa.

Q How does Onda compare to Thermage? โ†“
A Thermage is more like Xerf and Everesse in that it uses the monopolar RF and uses a grounding sticky pad that needs to be used on the patient during treatment. It is significantly more painful/uncomfortable for patients because of the heat penetration method and although the purpose of the device is tightening, results have shown that unwanted fat reduction has occurred for some patients. Thermage is still a great technology for superficial skin tightening, but is a little dated. Onda is controlled skin tightening and fat reduction that can be customized, with very little discomfort and no need for any numbing. It is the new class of contouring and tightening.
Q Will it tighten loose skin on the neck? โ†“
A We can use the tightening handpiece for jawline and neck, yes.
Q If a patient has opted for PDO threads first then decides to opt for OndaPro, how long do you wait before treating? โ†“
A If lifting threads have been used at The Things We Do, our style of threads is going back into the hairline so you can have an Onda treatment as soon as a month later. But if threads were placed in the traditional style, you must wait at least 3-4 months.
Q Is there a recommended protocol for someone on a weight loss drug seeing approximately 1lb per week? โ†“
A I like to tighten and contour along the weight loss journey. Typically people are losing 20-40 lbs on GLP-1s and I like to get started after the first 10 lbs and do one treatment once a month and continue to tighten from there. It helps the elasticity preserve while losing weight rapidly.
Q Do you need to keep the handpiece moving at all times? โ†“
A Yes, the handpiece must be moving and the cooling ring is a comfort measure.
Q Can you use Onda over an abdomen that had a previous hernia with mesh repair? โ†“
A It is not recommended to go over herniated or previously herniated tissue.
Q How does Onda compare with Ulthera? โ†“
A Ulthera goes deeper into the tissues past the fat layer and is very uncomfortable and time consuming to use over the body. Onda doesn't have the ability to go past the fat and is specifically made to contour and tighten face and body so it is efficient and comfortable for the provider and the patient.
Q Do you think it would work if you're over 60 years old? โ†“
A Yes! Our Italian colleagues have seen successful results with patients in their 60s.
Q Is it safe to do after lipo on arms? โ†“
A Yes! Plastic surgeons globally will use Onda Pro to smooth out areas that have been rippled from lipo side effects. My prediction is that this will be in most plastic surgery offices in the next few years.
Q Could it potentially help scars? โ†“
A No, I would lean on Picosure Pro for scars.
Q Does it work on menopause belly? โ†“
A Yes it does!
Q Many practitioners say the device is only as good as the practitioner. Will everyone have the same extensive training? โ†“
A All of our providers have extensive training on the different patterns to customize for each individual.
Q After doing Pixel 8 and Sofwave, will Onda cause more thinning of skin? โ†“
A This is a very common concern and we let patients know that it is not going to diminish skin quality, instead the focus is facial and body contouring and tightening. Pixel and Sofwave are very different techs than Onda Pro and do not have the same clinical endpoints.
Q Is this OK to use on tattooed skin? โ†“
A Yes!
Q Do you guys have a location near San Francisco with Onda? โ†“
A We do not yet, but soon to come!
Q What's the difference between the 1st version of Onda and the Pro? โ†“
A There are more customizable capabilities with the Pro.
Q Lymphatic massage after Onda makes results FASTER. Do you still see results without it? โ†“
A You do see the same results even without the lymphatic massage, it just takes longer to see them.
